Ellie Winterbottom

Tax Adviser

As a Tax Adviser at ETC Tax, Ellie’s role is to advise clients on a broad range of tax enquiries.

“I enjoy working with the team here at ETC, developing my skills when dealing in the complex world of tax, getting to know our clients and understanding their needs is really rewarding.”

Life before ETC

I have recently completed my BSc (Hons) in Accounting and Finance at The Manchester Metropolitan University, obtaining a first-class honours degree. During my 3 years at University, I also had the opportunity to work part-time at TJX Europe as a sales associate. This provided me with many of the people/professional skills I use today.

Why a career in tax?

I studied Accounting and Finance at University, and my final year taxation modules particularly captivated my enthusiasm, shifting my attention to a tax-related career once I finished my studies. Since the tax system is constantly evolving, I can be certain that I will never stop learning new things and challenging myself, which is something I thrive off.

My best (and worst) bits

I’d say my best qualities are that I am highly motivated and have a great work ethic. I also love meeting new people and offering a helping hand to anyone who needs it.

Worst bits: I like to talk (maybe a little too much) but I’m also quite a perfectionist, so occasionally I end up working on things for longer than I had planned to ensure it’s my best work.
